CULTIVATING ACADEMICS, TALENT, CHARITY AND HUMANITY (CATCH)The CATCH Foundation was established in 2003 to address the dire need for academic advancement opportunities in the traditionally urban community.  Begun as a private charity, the corporation sought and gained IRS tax exempt status pursuant to §501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code in 2007. The CATCH Foundation is governed by a five-member board of directors, chaired by Luckett Johnson, M.D.  Other members of the board are James Douglas, Marcia Johnson, Wanda Wilson and Allen Boutte. The CATCH Foundation has provided more than $150,000 in  academic scholarships to recipients attending many local schools including Texas Southern University, Houston Community College, Lamar University, Prairie View A&M University and the Thurgood Marshall School of Law, in its thirteen years of service to the community .

The C.A.T.C.H. Foundation has also made monetary  donations to Alcorn University, Huston Tillotson and Texas Southern University. The foundation relies on private donations for its support.

Currently, more than 95 cents of every dollar contributed to the foundation is spent on its work and mission.   The CATCH Foundation has recently expanded its interest to providing residential opportunities to children that have been abandoned or that for other reasons need housing. The Foundation will not be able to operate the facilities and is looking for a responsible, viable partner to work with to manage facilities operations.  We anticipate that such a collaboration will allow the foundation to continue to expand its facilities development and construction program each year. The Foundation has targeted the Southwest Houston as its initial homes sites.
